Kindergarten is not what it used to be! The effects of “No child left behind” is that the schools are pushing students in Kindergarten to become readers, even those who are barely five years old and are not interested in reading. My granddaughter has struggled and cried over learning to read until she started working with Doreese Severe after school. Doreese has created a reading program that helps those lines on paper make sense to a five-year old. She relates pictures that children are familiar with to teach letters and the sounds they make. Doreese has analyzed a multitude of sounds that we read and has written interesting stories that use only those introductory sounds.
